Dr. Gregory S. Harris

Electrophysiologist

Dr. Gregory S. Harris is a board-certified Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologist with extensive expertise in arrhythmia management, device implantation, and cardiovascular research. He currently serves as an Electrophysiologist and Director of Research at Heart Rhythm Associates in Greenville, North Carolina, a position he has held since July 2019.

Dr. Harris earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from East Carolina University, followed by a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Appalachian State University, where his thesis explored the effects of resistance exercise on recovery blood pressure and heart rate. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Physiology from East Carolina University, with a dissertation on the role of urotensin II in the pathophysiology of congestive heart failure. After a postdoctoral fellowship in Molecular and Cellular Physiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he completed his Doctor of Medicine at East Carolina University. His postgraduate training included an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at East Carolina University, followed by an electrophysiology fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

A prolific researcher, Dr. Harris has authored or co-authored numerous publications in journals such as Heart Rhythm, American Journal of Physiology, and Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology. He has presented abstracts at major conferences, including the American College of Cardiology, Heart Rhythm Society, and Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology. Dr. Harris holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Cardiac Electrophysiology. He is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and American Medical Association, and served as PGY3 representative for the Internal Medicine Chief's Council (2012-2013). Dr. Harris continues to advance cardiac care through clinical practice, research, and education.
